COVID 19 Information

In this section you will find our COVID 19 risk assessment and Covid Outbreak Management Plan to support the schools Covid operations from September 2021. This will be continually updated in line with Government Guidance as necessary. The risk assessment has been designed by our school based on the areas identified in the Government Guidance.

You will also be able to view our school's remote learning policy which has been constructed following feedback from our parental community to ensure we are meeting their needs in providing continuity of education in the case of a local outbreak or individual cases. 

In August 2020, the Government announced additional funding for schools to deliver catch-up following the COVID-19 pandemic and consequences following school closures. Hiltingbury Infant School has received the coronavirus (COVID-19) catch-up premium grand in the academic year 2020-2021, to support children at our school. 

We have produced a document to outline:

• How much we received for the academic year 2020-2021
• How the grant will be spent
• Our actions against this expenditure and the intended impact on the educational attainment of pupils at the school.

The Education Endowment Fund (EEF) has provided early research evidence around projections for the impact of school closures during lockdown, predominantly on the impact for disadvantaged pupils. The school's strategic response to devising and implementing the catch-up programme fully takes these findings into account. In summary, the EEF projections for the impact of widespread school closures identify;

• The disadvantaged attainment gap widens
• Assessment of lost learning is fundamental
• Targeted support in addition to wider school initiatives are required
• Absence rates upon return are crucial

Effective home learning programmes have been found to mitigate the impact. Hiltingbury Infant School provided home learning for all pupils. However, there is an acknowledgement that whilst the take up of remote learning was strong, a significant number of pupils (including disadvantaged pupils) have suffered from a prolonged period without face to face teaching and learning from their teachers. The purpose of the document below is to effectively plan the way the catch-up funding will be spent, to enable us to inform parents, carers and governors of the impact it has had on pupil achievement.
