Our Commitment to Safeguarding
At Hiltingbury Infant School, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, caring and supportive environment where all children feel valued, respected and able to learn and thrive.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We work closely with children, parents, staff, governors and external agencies to promote the welfare of all pupils and to protect them from harm.
We believe that every child has the right to:

How We Keep Children Safe
We promote a strong safeguarding culture throughout the school by:

Ensuring all staff receive regular safeguarding and child protection training.

Following safer recruitment procedures when appointing staff and volunteers.

Maintaining robust safeguarding and child protection policies.

Teaching children how to stay safe, both online and offline.

Working closely with families and external agencies when additional support is needed.

Online Safety
Technology plays an important role in children's lives and learning. We teach pupils how to use technology safely and responsibly, helping them to understand:

Safe use of the internet.

Respectful online behaviour.

How to recognise risks online.

What to do if something online makes them feel worried or uncomfortable.

NSPCC Speak out Stay Safe - As a school we work with the NSPCC to deliver the Speak out Stay Safe message. To find out more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme please head to the NSPCC website.

Online Safety Hub NSPCC - Please visit the NSPCC online safety hub where you will find advice and information on a range of different online safety topics including gaming, social media, parental controls and more.

Childline under 12's website - Childline also have a website with age appropriate advice for primary school children on topics such as bullying. It also has games and other interactive tools. Your child can visit it on the above web link.

Early Help and Support
Sometimes families may need additional support. Early Help can provide practical advice and assistance before difficulties become more serious. If you would like to discuss support available for your child or family, please speak to a member of our safeguarding team.
Reporting a Concern
If you are concerned about the welfare of a child, please contact the school immediately.
If you need to raise a safeguarding concern and it is out of school hours or term time, please contact Hampshire County Council's safeguarding team on: 0300 555 1384 or, the police on 101.
If a child is immediate danger, please contact the police using 999.
